France M56 Airborne

This helmet replaced the M53 jump helmet, this new helmet is basically the M51 with a 3-point chinstrap. This example has the cover off the combat jacket secured by a piece of rubber tire tube, the insignia to the rear is that of an NCO of 1 Section, 2nd Compagnie (Mountain Combat), 2 REP (Foreign Legion Paratroopers). This helmet, according to the collector I obtained it from,  saw service in Kolwezi, Zaire in 1978.
