United Kingdom MkII
1938 saw the WWI MkI modified to a more oval shape and improved chinstrap and rexine liner, the MkII was born. This helmet has the first version of the MkI liner (identified by the oval cushion pad in the crown).
The stamps on the underside of the brim "F & L I 1939" (F & L, Fisher and Ludlow manufacturers of Birmingham 1939). The liner is stamped size "7" and "JCS & W Ltd I 1939" (J Compton Sons and Webb, liner manufacturers 1939).
These MkII helmets remained in service with the British Army (and other Allied and Commonwealth Forces) well after WWII.
