The M59 is also known as the Ne44 by some collectors. It is reported that this helmet was originally designed by Tito during WWII. This helmet has a stencilled red star and first pattern liner, modelled closely on the Riddel system. These helmets remained in use right through the 1990's during the Balkans' Civil Wars.
Above: Comparison between the M59 (Left) and M59/85 (Right) liners, note the rectangular retention washers on the M59 and the triangular on the M59/85, together with a couple of other minor differences these are quite easy to distinguish apart.
