Germany M40
The main difference between the M35 and M40 helmets is that the M35 has bushed vents where the M40 vents are stamped from the shell. This M40 is a single decal Wehrmacht helmet that has over 90% of its original rough textured Field Grey paint, the Eagle shield is about 70% and turned a slight yellow with age. The neck skirt has the serial number 11826 and the soldiers name "W M Blohm". This particular helmet is a veteran from the Italian Campaign.
The stamp SE64 tells us the metric size is 64 and the SE is the manufacturer, in this case "Sachsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke" in the city of Lauter, the second largest German helmet manufacturer of WWII. The photo at the bottom of the page is a period photograph of this Firm.
