Netherlands M23/27
This helmet was designed and manufactured in the Netherlands.
The "M23" indicates the design date of 1923, and the "27" signifies the date when these helmets were adopted, 1927. Sometimes classified also as "M28 Nieuw Model"
These served alongside the M34 in the early stages of WWII. The "CM" stamp ("Centraal Magazijn") was an inspection stamp applied after the complete helmet had been delivered but before being issued, the date, in this case is 1933.
The liner manufacturer is "Weduwe D. P. de Booij" which is located in "Den Bosch" about 80kms south of Amsterdam.
There are subtle differences between the M23/27 and M34. The M34 is a heavier helmet than its predecessor and has a more rounded curve at the base (see pic below for comparision).
This helmet still has its period paint which was a Flat Dark Olive, and from information learned used only before 1929.
