These first pattern DR helmets were made of Fibre with a cork "skull", they saw service early in WWII until phased out by the new steel MkI models in 1942.
This example has a tag "Made in England, Cromwell Protective Headgear, Helmets Limited" there is also a size stamp "7 1/8" and a number "No 102" stamped into the leather sweatband.
